Web Site Development Company Donates to Nonprofit that Starts Churches

GRESHAM – At 6 pm Wednesday (3-10-04) officers of a Web Site Development Company, Unlimited Provision & Compassion (UPC) gathered from three states to present a check to the Northwest Christian Evangelistic Association, which is headquartered in Canby.

Robert Hollis, of Laurel, Montana, is Founder & CEO of UPC; Bob Cline, of West Linn, Oregon, is President of the company's for-profit arm, Unlimited Provisions.Com; and Mark Maggiora, of Vancouver, Washington, is President of its non-profit affiliate, Unlimited Provisions.Org. These three officials all gathered at the Francis Xavier’s Restaurant in Gresham to present UPC's contribution to Dave Armstrong, Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Tom Brown, Executive Director, of the NWCEA.

UPC is a 100% affiliate owned company. It offers web sites to businesses, non-profit organizations and individuals. These web sites come with state-of-the-art editing tools that anyone with word processing experience can use to create or modify a web site in just a few minutes. The UPC product makes owning and operating a web site manageable for almost everyone. Individual pages can be edited in real time from any computer in the world having internet access--and can be managed by different people within an organization, each with their unique password protected access.

UPC designed its business plan structure from the start with the intent to provide charitable donations to community service organizations from the profits of the company.  "The officers and leaders of the company are Christians and believe strongly in the importance of giving," said Bob Cline, Unlimited Provisions.Com President.  To accomplish its charitable intent, UPC created Unlimited Provisions.Org as its non-profit arm.

NWCEA received two donated web sites in 2003 from UPC after it staffed a display at Abundant Life Christian Church in Boring where Cline is a member. "People who had chosen to become stockholders in UPC, but had not put their web site to use--donated the sites for NWCEA's new church development," explained Cline.  Mark Maggiora, President of Unlimited Provisions.Org, and Cline put the web site donation for the NWCEA together.

“We immediately accepted the donation of the two web sites,” said Tom Brown, Executive Director of the NWCEA. “We are starting two new churches, and this helped them to start earlier and saves us money – which is important with all of our start-ups.”

The two churches using the donated web sites are: Potter’s Hands Church being formed by Sean Thomé, Church Planter, in the Murray Scholls area (www.pottershands.org); and Ethnos Church, being formed by Justin Wolverton, Church Planter, in the Sylvan area (www.ethnoschurch.org). Both are independent Christian Churches not connected to any denomination.

"The gift is very welcome," Brown stated, "since the NWCEA is raising funds presently to fund five new churches in 2005." The NWCEA receives donations, selects a person who has attended Bible college or a seminary, helps determine the location for the new church and helps manage the project in its first three years. The NWCEA is responsible for starting 26 churches since it was founded in 1956. Eight of those were started since the arrival of Brown in 1996.  It costs about the NWCEA about $100,000 to launch a new church.

“We work with partners including other church planting organizations and churches willing to ‘mother’ a new church,” Brown said. “We believe that one part of being a healthy church is to have babies.”

The NWCEA is an Oregon non-profit corporation approved by the IRS as a 501(c) 3 charitable organization. It has its offices in the Canby Christian Church building.
